Council maintains cemeteries in the townships of Bargo, Picton and Thirlmere. All cemeteries cater for the internment of ashes and grave burials.
The Cemeteries Policy outlines the terms of management in all operational cemeteries and the expected conduct of those entering the cemeteries is in accordance with reasonable and practical standards.

Reservations
- Reservations of burial plots or interment niches for future use can be made through Council.
- Reservation price includes first interment.
- Full payment must be made at the time of reservation. Once processed the applicant will be sent a Right Of Interment certificate to be kept with personal papers.
Lawn Beams
- Lawn Beam plots allow for the erection of a headstone only. Monuments and plants cannot be placed on the grave area.
- Council reserves the right to remove without notice any unapproved or unauthorised works and excessive or inappropriate objects including plants and flowers placed in the lawn beam section.
Monumental Plots
Monumental Plots allow for a full gravesite surround with the approval of Council. Grave surrounds require installation to be carried out by a certified Monumental Mason.
Headstones
- Council requires that all monuments must be installed by a monumental mason and approved by Council in addition to having the consent of the Grantee of the Right of Burial.
- Council will not be liable for the future care and maintenance of the headstone (& surrounds).
