The Stonequarry Creek Bush Tucker Garden is a stunning site that runs alongside the Picton Botanic Gardens behind the Hume Oval.
The site is a focus location for Wollondilly Shire Council's Bushcare Program and Council have worked with community and corporate volunteer groups to restore the river flat forest that used to occur on the site pre-settlement.
Through Bushcare activity days, groups remove invasive species and replace them with native trees and shrubs that will help the site become more resilient to high rainfall events, stabilise creek banks and enhance habitat for local birds, insects and other fauna.
Where: Behind the Hume oval along Stonequarry Creek, Picton.
When: 10am - 12pm on the First Friday of the month.
New members always welcome, there is no experience needed and our staff will provide training, tools and gloves.
If you have a location in mind that you would like to see as a part of our Bushcare Program, please send an expression of interest to bushcare@wollondilly.nsw.gov.au
