Hi my name is Bernie and I have been an Educator with Wollondilly Family Day Care since 1995.
I chose Family Day Care to be able to be at home with my own child and to earn an income, whilst also providing a loving and caring homely environment to children in the community.
I enjoy working with children and have the privilege to see them grow and learn and help them develop in to strong confident individuals.
I build very strong and trusting relationships with all children in care and their families and continue this contact with them as they become young adults and having children of their own.
In my environment I provide many experiences to encourage children’s development and interests, including STEM, math and literacy. These experiences encourage the children to develop confidence, resilience and self-esteem in themselves amongst their peers in group activities working as a team.

Hi my name is Jade and I have been an Educator with Wollondilly Family Day Care since 2020.
I live in Appin with my husband and our two daughters.
I can cater for children aged 6 weeks of age up to School age and I offer vacation care for School aged children.
I previously worked in Long Day Care and also I was a Nanny with several families before I moved over to Family Day Care so that I could still work but be at home with my own children.
I believe that in order to provide care to the best quality is to create a loving, caring, warm, secure, and happy environment where children can develop their own potential socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
My home will always be a warm and comforting environment where children want to attend and a place where all Parents/Educators are happy and confident to leave their children in my care.
I believe that each child is an individual and all learn by doing. Each child is unique and creative in their own way and should be encouraged wherever possible as the leaning process should be enjoyable and fun.
Children should be encouraged to think, problem solve, and be able to discover for themselves.
I believe that all children should be nurtured into becoming confident, strong, and independent in every aspect of life.
My role as a Family Day Care Educator will always be to encourage kindness and friendships, and ensure that all children are reminded of their uniqueness and ability to shine regardless.
Working with children has numerous advantages. It is an opportunity to watch children grow and develop into confident, self-sufficient learners.
You get to witness children’s development and learning firsthand as they grow under your care and Watching their own personalities and identities form.
I knew when I was in school that I had a passion for children and that was the path I wanted to pursue.
Knowing what I know now and having the benefits of working beside my own children and watching them grow was enough to not make me turn back I wouldn’t change my job for anything.
For me childcare is one of those jobs that you either enjoy or not, there is no in between however luckily enough for me I love my job day in day out.

Hi my name is Karen and I have been an Educator with Wollondilly Family Day Care since 1996.
When I started Family Day Care I chose this profession to be at home with my own children and to be able to earn an income, while giving other families the opportunity to have their own children in a safe family home environment, where I could support the children in their development.
I enjoy watching and guiding the children grow and learn during their time in care. It is easier to do this with smaller groups and one on one opportunities.
I love to see how children think and play together as they have amazing ideas and personalities.
The connections and bonds that remain even after the children finish in care and move on in life, seeing them develop into young adults is very rewarding.
I like to provide opportunities for the children to learn in their time and ways using their own learning styles.
I provide experiences for the children to learn in their community- we attend story time at the library, visit local parks regularly, shopping experiences where we are amongst the community and learning all about math and literacy and we catch up with other Educators in their environments.
I provide a safe, fun, respectful environment and provide a variety of experiences to help children develop socially and communicate with other peers.

Hi my name is Knarik and I have been an Educator with Wollondilly Family Day Care for 21 years.
I grew up in Armenia and moved to Australia where I married and raised my family.
I chose my profession because working with children is fun and rewarding for me. Working in my own family environment gave me an opportunity to also spend time with my own children, which is a bonus.
What I enjoy the most about being an educator is seeing the difference that I've made in the child's life and all the achievements they accomplish because of our interactions.
I always provide a calm, happy and positive atmosphere for the children in my care.
I am always encouraging children and trying to expand their imagination by involving them in activities and experiences. We do lots of drawing, painting, dancing and play interactive games to influence their perspective which then encourages their development and I am able to then provide for their interests.

Hi my name is Rhonda and I live in Mt Annan with my husband and daughter.
I have been an Educator with Wollondilly Family Day Care for the past 11 years. I have my Certificate III in Children’s Services.
I can cater for children aged 6 weeks of age up to School age and I offer vacation care for School aged children.
My environment offers children a homely place for children to explore freely whilst experimenting and learning through their play.
I chose family day care as I enjoy supporting children as they grow and learn, in their own individual ways.
I enjoy working with children and their families, building positive and open relationships with parents/educators and discovering the different abilities of all children.
I provide a nurturing, homely, welcoming clean, safe environment. The children can move from the family area part of the home where activities are set up on mats or into another room which is set up with equipment that the children can choose for themselves to spend time with their peers or on their own for some quiet time.
Children eat nutritious meals and snacks and are involved in the learning of the foods that they eat. Children are engaged regularly in fine and gross motor activities. Music is a powerful tool used to create a happy environment. The children participate regularly in dance independently or by following instructions, singing children’s songs or phonics and number songs.
My physical environment allows children to grow and develop through activities, colours and textures it allows children to ride bikes, play in the sandpit or participate in role play with the cubby house. Each day different activities are provided either by children’s choice or planned experiences to encourage their development and interests.

Hi my name is Robyn and I have been an Educator with Wollondilly Family Day Care since 2015, previous to that I have worked for over 20 years in the long day care sector as an Educator.
I provide a nurturing, loving, safe and home- like environment where children can grow and develop to their full potential. The children are given the opportunity to have a voice and agency over how they like to spend their time whilst in care and I help them follow their interests and likes.
I strive to build collaborative relationships with the families so that we can work together to create the best outcomes for the children.
Children in my care learn through play, intentional teaching, and spontaneous play experiences. During these play experiences the children develop deep connections with their peers and educator, along with opportunities to socialize, be active, experiment, and problem solve.
I believe there is no better childcare option than FDC. It is a unique environment that allows children to feel comfortable and secure in a familiar home like environment.
The children can be in care with their siblings and play in mixed ages which provides endless opportunities for learning from their peers. The children form strong attachments to the one educator and their small group of friends.
I feel that having a small group enables me to provide the very best care possible for all children.
I love the close relationships that you can build with the children and really get to know them and connect with them in a very authentic, and genuine way.
I love that you can slow down the pace of the day and really soak up the beauty of early childhood!
I like that we get to learn about the children’s lives, their siblings, extended family and even their pets! I believe building close family relationships provides a strong sense of welcoming and belonging into my family day care which ultimately leads to better outcomes for all children.
I enjoy having a small group of four children each day and being able to really focus on each child’s individual development, needs and interests.
And probably my most favourite thing of all is those daily laugh out loud moments that you get when working with young children, just priceless!

Hi my name is Sarah and I have been an Educator with Wollondilly Family Day Care since 2015. I started off as a relief Educator and then moved to the Wollondilly Shire and became a fulltime Educator. I am also an Early Childhood Consultant.
I live in Tahmoor with my partner and daughter and our menagerie of pets. Our backyard is a home for a dog, a cat, Guinea pigs and chickens.
I offer care for children aged between 0-13 years. I drop off and pick up school children from Tahmoor public school.
I chose Family Day Care as a profession as I believe children thrive in smaller groups and with mixed ages.
Watching and being a part of children’s learning as well as continuing on my own learning journey.
I provide a play-based learning environment where children can participate in messy play, sensory play and risky play. I provide an environment that is culturally safe and environmentally friendly. I provide a setting where each child is valued as an individual, where each child feels safe and secure, where each child has a voice.

Hi my name is Shane and I have been an Educator with Wollondilly Family Day Care for 16 years.
I started Family Daycare as I had chosen this type of care for my own children when they were young and I loved how they became part of their daycare family.
I believe young children should be able to learn through play and interests at their own pace.
In a Family daycare setting I like the way different ages are learning from each other, the older children nurture the younger children and through this the younger children are learning new skills.
Family Day Care environments are best suited to the holistic approach to childcare as the group is small.
My outdoor environment is very natural, the children learn and play in the mud kitchen and sandpit where they develop through sensory experiences, role play, imaginative play, maths and hands on exploration.
The children and myself are huge lovers of outside play and learning and have spent many hours splosh about with water, build with wet sand, dig in the dirt, plant flowers, hunt for minibeasts and get creative with natural materials. It’s the best place for messy and sensory play because the cleanup is minimal and the key resources are right on hand.

Hi my name is Shona and I have been a Family Day Care Educator with Wollondilly Family Day Care for 23 years. My youngest child attended Family Day Care before starting school and this is how I became an Educator myself in later years.
I chose a career as a Family Day Care Educator as it allowed me to be at home with my family while fulfilling my career wishes to work with children in an early childhood setting.
Being an educator is a very rewarding career. I love watching the children in my care grow and develop on many levels, socially, emotionally and intellectually to become little people with big hearts & inquisitive minds that lead to lifelong learners.
I aim to provide an inclusive environment where children & families are respected and valued.
Where we work together to create a special place for children's learning.
I will provide opportunities for the children to experience, explore and discover the wonder of our natural environment.
My aim is to provide a safe, fun and educational service that will nurture each child's development and self-esteem, where there is a sense of belonging as an individual and being part of a group.
